I hold a B.A double major in social studies education and history. I also hold a minor in political science. I have also completed my Masters degree in Human Development with an emphasis on creative writing. My Master's thesis was focused on historical fiction writing.

I have been a social studies teacher for nine years; two years at a middle school and seven years at a high school. I have taught U.S. Government, Geography, World History, American History, Limited English Proficiency classes; and World Affairs and Great Decisions, both of which are current event based classes. I have taught 8th-12th graders as well as both summer school and night school.

In the past I also coached a high school competitive debate team.

My primary hobby is playing the Great Highland Bagpipes. I have played for four years and play in a local band. Other interests that I have include, kayaking, fly-fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, watching movies, and reading.
